Cook County Busted Mugshots is a private reference site, not a government office. It cannot confirm custody, verify a release, post bond, arrange a visit, or pull an official booking record. Contact the agency that made or holds the record for an authoritative answer.

Official Cook County records contacts

Use the route that matches the event. A Cook County arrest may begin with a municipal police department, move to CCDOC, and later appear in a court or state-custody record. Those systems are separate. A charge shown in a booking or police entry is an accusation, not a conviction. Charges may be reduced or dismissed, and every person is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.

CCDOC custody and booking records

The Cook County Department of Corrections is at 2700 S. California Avenue, Chicago, Illinois 60608. Its main phone is 773-674-1945. For current county custody and a booking photo when the person was booked, processed, and remains in Sheriff custody, use the official Individual in Custody Locator. The Sheriff’s communications guidance says results are typically published four to six hours after booking and processing. A person released after bond court may never have been booked or photographed, so a locator no-result is not proof that no arrest occurred.

CCSO Freedom of Information Act requests

For a CCDOC booking or release record, incident record, or booking photograph that is maintained and releasable, use the CCSO FOIA request page and its GovQA portal. The current submission instructions and any form or general-information update are linked from those routes. The CCSO FOIA Officer can be reached at 312-603-6444 or ccso.foiaofficer@ccsheriff.org. The researched physical route is CCSO, Attn. FOIA Officer, Richard J. Daley Center, 50 W. Washington Street, Room 704, Chicago, Illinois 60602. Ask for the booking or release record and the booking photograph as separate items, and provide the name, date, arresting agency, and booking or case number when known.

Chicago Police Department records

For an adult Chicago arrest, begin with the official CPD Adult Arrest Search. It covers adult CPD arrests on or after January 1, 2014, and does not cover CCSO, Sheriff’s Police, Illinois State Police, or other municipalities. For an arrest report or a booking photograph if maintained and releasable, use the CPD arrest-report FOIA form for Records Services Division, 3510 S. Michigan Avenue, First Floor, Unit 163, Chicago, Illinois 60653. The Records Services phone is 312-745-5508. The public search can lag by a few days while systems synchronize, so preserve the date of a search.

Cicero Police Department records

The Cicero Police Department is at 4901 W. Cermak Road, Cicero, Illinois 60804, and its main phone is 708-652-2130. The official page reviewed did not link a continuous public arrest roster or booking-photo feed. For a Cicero arrest report, booking sheet, or booking photograph if maintained and releasable, use the Town of Cicero Legal Department and FOIA route. The FOIA email is foia@thetownofcicero.com. The Legal Department lists 4949 W. Cermak Road, Cicero, Illinois 60804, and questions may be directed to 708-656-3600, extension 450. If the person was transferred to CCDOC, check that county system separately.

Elgin Police Department records

The Elgin Police Department is at 151 Douglas Avenue, Elgin, Illinois 60120, with a main phone of 847-289-2700. The Records Division phone is 847-289-2575. The city’s records FAQ says criminal report copies require a FOIA request and describes an in-person records route. The FOIA policy explains that submission methods, response timing, extensions, and copy charges can vary, so read the current city instructions. Elgin crosses Cook and Kane Counties, so identify the arrest location and agency before calling it a Cook County record. The official pages reviewed did not identify a public booking-photo roster.

Cook County court files and dispositions

The Cook County Clerk Criminal Department is at 50 W. Washington Street, Room 1006, Chicago, Illinois 60602, and its phone is 312-603-4641. Use the Clerk’s case lookup for a starting point. Older or non-current files may require the court-document request route described by the Clerk. A court file or certified disposition answers what happened after booking. It should not be inferred from a live jail listing, a charge, or a news story.

Illinois state and federal custody

For a person sentenced to or held in Illinois state custody, use the IDOC Individual in Custody Search. IDOC’s written-request procedures and FOIA address should be confirmed on the current agency page. For federal custody, use the Federal Bureau of Prisons Inmate Locator. For immigration detention, use the ICE Online Detainee Locator. Neither federal tool is a Cook County booking roster, and a missing result does not establish immigration status or a local disposition.
